If you don’t know what it is or why you’d want it, you can pretty much stop there and go to another site.
If you know what a shell account is, and you’d find it useful or educational to have one you might not be up to paying what companies will often charge.
Out of nostalgia and appreciation for other similar services over the years CrankyNerds.net appreciates this and would like to help out; this is it. You can sign up using the link to the free signup on the CrankyNerds.net web hosting site and have an account created for you. Run an IRC bot or agent, use lynx to check your mail. Have a linux shell handy on another network to be able to test from a 3rd party network with ping or mtr. Do a whois without digging through a site full of ads? Yup. Coding? Git clone your repo and dev in comfort with “vi”. The options are wide open. Plus if you’re that kind of geek you might not mind that as a side benefit, it comes with email & a web site and you can use your own domain if you’d like.
If you’re not into that sort of thing, please stop cold calling & spamming. People can be so obnoxious.
