Just a free for life (or, at least my life or ability to keep the bills paid) shell account. Linux. Ubuntu. I'll probably usually try to keep it running the latest stable since no doubt if you have your own systems you probably have to keep them back in the interest of stability in production.
These shells are set up using the free (GPLv3) VesaCP control panel. The server is running on a Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz CPU, which feels pretty good for this kind of thing. Below is a snap of the default plan you get for free. Note that this does run on all the same tech as my hosting operation runs on and I don't want to make stupid promises but it's been solid and the uptime after all these years has surprised even me. Note though that this is running on my personal machine, which I may test updates on or reboot for a patch more often or, more recklessly. ;-) --But there's backups too! I don't think I've ever lost anyone's data who didn't just delete it themselves and change their mind later. Don't change your mind. Use backups.
